  • Does the HTG AT8 require a full-time operator?
  • No. During normal autonomous operation, the AT8 does not require an operator to continuously steer or follow the machine. One operator can typically supervise four to five AT8 units under suitable jobsite conditions. Operators are still responsible for checking power cables, dust extraction systems, diamond tooling, and responding to machine alerts. The actual staffing requirements depend on site complexity and maintenance needs.
  • How much area can the HTG AT8 grind or polish per hour?
  • The AT8 delivers different productivity levels depending on the application: Coating removal: approximately 1,300–1,700 sq. ft./hour. CSP surface preparation: approximately 1,300–2,150 sq. ft./hour. Concrete polishing: approximately 2,150–3,440 sq. ft./hour per polishing pass. Aggregate exposure: approximately 860–1,720 sq. ft./hour. These are representative productivity ranges based on field applications. Actual performance depends on floor conditions, tooling, coating thickness, and project requirements.
  • What makes the HTG AT8 different from a traditional floor grinder?
  • The HTG AT8 combines professional floor grinding with autonomous navigation and automatic path planning. Unlike conventional grinders that require continuous operator control, the AT8 can independently follow planned grinding paths while maintaining consistent speed, overlap, and coverage. This helps reduce labor requirements, improve surface consistency, and support efficient operation on large flooring projects.
  • How does the AT8 avoid obstacles and people during autonomous grinding?
  • The AT8 uses LiDAR and a front-facing camera to detect its surroundings. Fixed obstacles, such as columns and racks, can be identified during mapping and avoided through automatic path planning. If a person, forklift, or unexpected obstacle enters the working path, the machine automatically stops. Operation can resume once the path is clear and safe. Restricted areas, such as dock pits and trenches, should be marked on the map before operation.
  • How does the AT8 ensure consistent grinding coverage?
  • The AT8 uses LiDAR positioning, automatic path planning, adjustable overlap width, and consistent travel speed to reduce missed areas and uneven grinding. The system records completed grinding paths and displays completed and remaining areas on the map. This allows operators to monitor progress and identify areas that still require attention.
  • Can the HTG AT8 operate without an internet connection?
  • Yes. The AT8 can perform mapping, localization, path planning, obstacle detection, and autonomous grinding without an external internet connection. The machine communicates with its control tablet through a local Wi-Fi/LAN connection. Internet access is required for OTA software updates and certain remote-management services, but not for normal autonomous grinding.
  • Is the HTG AT8 suitable for large warehouses and industrial flooring projects?
  • Yes. The AT8 is designed for large-scale floor grinding applications, including warehouses and industrial facilities. A single map can cover approximately 50,000 m² (538,000 sq. ft.). Larger projects can be divided into multiple work zones and completed in stages. The AT8 has been used on an industrial grinding project exceeding 1,000,000 m² in China. For reliable LiDAR positioning, large open spaces must provide sufficient fixed reference features.
  • Can the AT8 grind along walls, columns, and edges?
  • The AT8 is primarily designed for autonomous grinding in large, open areas. During autonomous operation, it typically maintains approximately 0.8 m (2.6 ft.) of clearance from walls to allow sufficient turning space. Wall edges, corners, and other areas that require closer control can be completed using remote-control operation. This combination allows contractors to use autonomous grinding for open areas while maintaining flexibility for detailed work.
  • What power supply does the HTG AT8 require?
  • The U.S. version of the AT8 requires 480 V, three-phase power, with a maximum operating current of approximately 43 A. For jobsites using a generator, a 60 kVA unit is recommended to power the AT8 (approximately 22 kW) and its standard dust extractor (approximately 10 kW). A 45 kVA generator may also be used with a lower-power dust extractor, subject to suitable operating conditions.
  • What maintenance and after-sales support are available for the HTG AT8?
  • The AT8 requires regular maintenance, including an oil change of approximately 8 liters every 500 operating hours. Other components are inspected and replaced according to wear or condition. For U.S. customers, common replacement parts are stocked through our Houston and Seattle locations, while specialized parts can be supplied from China. Local technical support is available in Texas, and new-machine purchases typically include approximately three days of training and one year of telephone technical support.
